The Digital Accessibility Policy (HR-86) promotes high-level coordination of accessibility efforts on the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois. It defines a standard of accessibility compliance and, through a flexible implementation plan, establishes procedures to help ensure that information technology used for the mission of the University is accessible to all persons, regardless of ability or delivery format.

Version 2.2 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) became a recommended web standard on October 5th, 2023. The new version contains nine new guidelines that will make interacting with websites more versatile and helpful, but WCAG 2.2 remains largely the same as previous versions of the guidelines. Those creating web-based content and software applications for the university should begin using WCAG 2.2 for their projects.
